This new program was developed by J. L. Morgan & Associates, Inc. at the direction of several hospitals in and effort to provide a high quality, real-time patient satisfaction system.
The unique and proprietary software for this patient satisfaction program and hospital database was written and created exclusively to provide each hospital, regardless of size, with a statistically sound, very cost-effective method of determining, tracking and bench marking real-time patient satisfaction survey data. This program also meets the requirements of JCAHO and is HIPAA compliant.
This new program eliminates the hospital's normal expenses associated with general patient satisfaction programs, while greatly increasing patient participation. Rather than following the norm by futilely mailing patient satisfaction surveys to former patients, our new real-time patient satisfaction program involves randomly calling previous patients and allowing them the opportunity to complete a patient satisfaction survey via a telephone interview. It has been our experience that patients are much more interested in completing a survey by telephone as opposed to completing the survey in writing and returning it by mail. (96.2% of all former patients contacted will complete a patient satisfaction survey) All data obtained through the telephone interviews are input directly into the hospital's database, which is immediately available for unlimited access by the hospital.
It is also very important to note that CMS will soon require all hospitals to report specific patient satisfaction information on a monthly basis. Since this will be a mandatory requirement placed on each hospital, it is our intent to include all upcoming "CMS" questions in the hospital's patient satisfaction database at no additional cost to the hospital. Therefore, as we conduct the hospital's patient satisfaction studies, we will also gather the required "CMS" data. At month's end, each hospital will receive proprietary patient satisfaction reports, as well as a CMS file suitable for meeting the CMS data-reporting requirement.
In an effort to demonstrate the value of this new "real-time" patient satisfaction program, we are conducting beta tests (i.e. live inpatient surveys and emergency room patient satisfaction surveys), at no cost or obligation, for each interested hospital. We would welcome the opportunity to provide such beta tests for your hospital.
